Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly barged into the house of a couple and attacked the duo at Kimbhiria Basti under Mancheswar police limits in Odisha capital, late last night.

According to reports, the accused slit the husband's neck with a blade and attacked the wife with a knife.

The victims sustained critical injuries and were admitted to the Capital Hospital here for treatment.

The condition of the husband, identified as Satyaghana Swain, was stated to be critical.

Though the reason behind the extreme act by the attacker was yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that he did so in an inebriated state after failing in love affair.

The Mancheswar police have started an investigation into the incident.
