Man marries rice cooker, divorces it 4 days after!

Bhubaneswar: Bizarre as it may sound, an Indonesian man got ‘hitched’ to his rice cooker. What sounds more weird is that the man, Khoirul Anam, divorced the ‘bride’ four days after the wedding.

Anam recently shared a series of pictures on his Facebook profile, where he can be seen dressed up in fancy wedding finery for the ceremony. The white-coloured rice cooker was also decked up for the occasion with a sheer white veil hanging from its lid. The ‘groom’ also sat alongside the rice cooker as the marriage was solemnised. While one of the pictures shows him kissing the cooker, in another, the appliance was found placed next to him as he signs the marriage papers.

Captioning the post, Anam wrote that he decided to marry the rice cooker as it was “Fair, obedient, loving and good at cooking.” But he announced his ‘divorce’ with the kitchen appliance four days later citing that it could only cook rice.

The pictures received nearly 10,000 ‘likes’ and over 1200 comments in a short span of time.

Needless to say, the whole wedding and subsequent divorce was nothing more than a social media stunt for entertainment. Anam is a well-known celebrity in Indonesia who participates in outlandish stunts for his followers for entertainment purpose.
