Keonjhar: In a shocking incident, a man killed his sister reportedly over a monetary issue, and surrendered before police following the incident here in Odisha's Keonjhar district.

The accused has been identified as Prasanna Barik of Somgiri village under Pandapada police limits. He was working as a gunman at a private firm.

According to reports, Prassana has been ailing for the past few days. He asked his sister Malati Barik for money for treatment. After she refused to give him money, the angry brother shot at her using his licensed gun. The victim was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where she was declared dead.

"Prasanna was the sole breadwinner of the family. He used to give his hard-earned money to his wife and lone sister. After he fell ill, he asked her sister for money for his treatment. When she refused to pay, he killed her by firing a bullet from his gun and informed the villagers about the incident. He did not want to escape, rather surrendered at the police station with his gun," said a villager.
