Man shot dead, another critical in separate shootouts in Odisha

Bargarh/Jharsuguda: A person was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Jamuta village in Bargarh district late last night. The deceased has been identified as Basant Pradhan.

While the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the miscreants had come for a loot last night and later opened fire at Pradhan, who was declared dead at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR).

Meanwhile, police have begun a probe into the incident.

In a separate incident, a man was shot at by two bike-borne miscreants at Kalinagar in Brajrajnagar under under orient police limits in Jharsuguda district today.

Sources said when Sanjay Gupta (45) was returning from morning walk, the miscreants opened fire at his stomach from a close range and fled the spot.

Pradhan was first rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) and later shifted to VIMSAR after his condition deteriorated. However, the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
