Man stoned to death in Odisha’s Ganjam district

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Brahmapur, May 28:

Barely three weeks after two persons were shot dead in broad daylight by their co-passengers travelling in an auto rickshaw, a man was allegedly stoned to death today by motorcycle-borne miscreants in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

A man in his mid 30s, identified as Anil Kumar Gouda, was attacked by at least six bike-borne assailants at Dharakote. He was waylaid by the goons while he was on a two-wheeler accompanied by a friend.

As the traffic on the road was lean due to prevailing heat wave conditions, the anti-social elements stoned him to death and fled the spot.

The unidentified men, however, allowed the pillion rider to run away before executing their plan.

Notably, the youth hailing from Kaindi village had escaped a bid on his life in October last year when he was shot at. He survived with bullet injuries.

Today’s brutal attack on the deceased is suspected to be an outcome of past enmity.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to apprehend the culprits.
