Man stumbles upon 18-ft king cobra while cleaning house in Odisha’s Balasore

Sources said one Pakan Nayak of the village was sweeping his backyard when he suddenly spotted the reptile.

Balasore: In a shocking start to the day, a man stumbled upon an 18-feet long king cobra while cleaning his house in Soro in Balasore district of Odisha here today. The incident was reported from Kiyanaliya village under Gopinathpur panchayat of Soro block.

Sources said one Pakan Nayak of the village was sweeping his backyard when he suddenly spotted the reptile.

While he ran for safety first, he later informed forest personnel who reached the spot along with snake helpline to rescue the snake. After many attempts, the team comprising Khuntapatana forester Kishore Chandra Bhuyan, forest guard Phulmani Murmu, members of Green Brigade Debendra Rout, Basanta Sethy, Harihar Behera and Trilochan Mallik along with snake helpline member from Balasore Karthik Sethy caught hold of the king cobra and made arrangements for its release into the nearby forest.
