Man tries to rape girl on pretext of providing job in Odisha capital, accused held

Bhubaneswar: A day after a young girl filed an FIR at Mancheswar police station here against a person who had lured her from Kendrapara by promising her a job but allegedly tried to rape her, Twin City Commissionerate of Police today arrested the accused.

The accused identified as Amar Jena aka Bapi from Manapur under Aul police limits in Kendrapara district was today arrested under section 376 of IPC.

According to sources, the girl hails from Kendrapara and had come to the capital city on the pretext of a job interview.

However, the accused tried to rape her inside a factory in Mancheswar area here but she attacked him back with stones and managed to escape by jumping over the boundary wall.

The local people spotted her and helped her to lodge a complaint in the nearby Mancheswar police station yesterday.

The police are probing into the matter.
