Man, wife electrocuted to death in Keonjhar; daughter escapes narrowly

Joda: A man and his wife were electrocuted to death yesterday night at Jamukundia village of Anseikala panchayat under Joda police limits in Keonjhar district. However, their daughter had a close shave.

The deceased man was identified as 42-year-old Manduru Munda and his wife as 35-year-old Raimani. Injured daughter of the couple was identified as 5-year-old Arani.

According to a senior official in Joda police station, Manduru and Raimani along with Arani had returned from local village haat on the intervening night at around 8.30 pm, when they came in contact with a live electrical wire hanging near main door of their house.

Both the man and his wife succumbed to electric shock on the spot, the senior official said.

On being informed about the fatal mishap today morning, Joda police reached the spot and launched a probe. Police have registered a case in this connection and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
