Man’s body found in well in Sundergarh, family alleges murder

Sundergarh: A body of a person was recovered from an abandoned  well in Bonai village in Sundergarh district today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Gorachand Behera, a resident of Kenaveta village under Bonai police limits in Sundergarh district.

According to sources, Gorachand who is a confectioner by profession left home telling his family members that he is going to Nanda Kishore Sahu’s house in Kareiput village in Tikaetpali police limits in Sundergarh to prepare sweets last evening. However, he did not return home.

After some locals saw a body floating in the abandoned well, they informed the police. Later the police along with Fire Services personnel reached the spot and recovered the body from the well and sent it for post-mortem.

Suspecting foul play, the family members of the deceased alleged Gorachand was murdered and his body was dumped in the well.

Police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter.
