Man’s headless body found in Balasore, head recovered from Bhadrak: A fallout of extramarital affair

Balasore: Headless body of a man was found in Khan Nagar area under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on November 12 while the head was recovered from Bhadrak district, around 90 km away from the spot of the incident.

Solving the case, police yesterday arrested a husband-wife duo in the murder case.

As per police sources, Sridhar Dalabehera, Fakir Nayak and his wife Sumitra Nayak of Nayagarh district were residing in Khan Nagar area and working for the ‘Basudha’ project in the area.

Later, an extramarital affair developed between Sridhar and Sumitra. Subsequently, they decided to stay together.

Being upset over the incident, Fakir left the place and went to his village. A week later on November 5, Sridhar allegedly thrashed Sumitra over a matter. Next night, the woman killed him by severing his head with an axe while he was sleeping.

As she informed her husband about the murder, he reached Balasore on a motorcycle. The couple dumped the headless body at a bushy backyard in the locality.

The accused duo then headed towards Nayagarh on the two-wheeler and disposed off the head midway at an under-construction drain near Chatabara Chhak in Bhadrak.

The police had registered a case after recovery of the decomposed body and started investigation.

While Sumitra was arrested from Cuttack, Fakir was apprehended from Nayagarh.
