Maoist camp busted in Odisha’s Rayagada, arms, explosives seized

Rayagada: Personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unearthed a Maoist camp near Niyamgiri Hills under Kalyansighpur police limits of Rayagada district today. They also seized a huge cache of arms and explosives from the suspected Maoist camp.

On the basis of intelligence inputs, one special platoon of CRPF launched a combing operation in Tidimaska, Kurusomuhi, Chatikana and Buduni village area of Karanja reserve forest area under Kalyansighpur police station. At about 1120 hrs troops reached in between Tidimaska and Kurusomuhi forest area and found some unidentified items hiding inside a big fallen tree.

After proper checking by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and dog squad, the security personnel seized four country made rifles, commercial detonator, gelatin sticks, batteries, wires and other explosive materials.
