Nuapada: Police have busted a Maoist camp and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions near Chhattisgarh border in Nuapada district of Odisha on Monday.
As per reports, a joint operation was carried out by combined security forces of SOG, DVF and CRPF after Nuapada Police received intelligence from reliable sources about camping of the Red Rebels. An official release by the police stated that the inputs indicated camping of the Naxals in large numbers in a dense jungle in Patdhara reserve forest within Sinapali limits of Nuapada near Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. The information also revealed that the Maoists had assembled to plan out various anti-security strategies for subversive activities.
Addressing mediapersons, Nuapada SP Raghavendra G Reddy said acting on the tip-off, a joint team launched a combing operation on Monday and busted a Naxal camp near Nangalghat village in Patdhara at around 11 am in the morning. "We received input that Maoists belonging to CPI (Maoist ) had gathered to strategise disruptive activities. Accordingly a combined team of SOG, DVF and CRPF launched a search operation and busted the camp in Patdhara RF. During the search, security personnel also recovered 5 kg low explosive powder, 20 choklate bombs, medicines and other incriminating items. Further combing operation is ongoing in the area," he added.
