Maoist camp busted on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, explosives recovered

The drive was carried out getting reliable information on activities and movement of the Red Rebels in the tri-junction of Koraput, Malkangiri districts of Odisha and Alluri Sitaram Raju district of Andhra Pradesh

Koraput: Security forces have busted a Maoist camp and unearthed a huge cache of explosives during a combing operation in Andrahal panchayat of Koraput on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border on Wednesday.

Police said a team of SOG and DVF Koraput carried out anti-Naxal operation in forest areas of Hanumal, Sindhiput, Ondeipadar, Andrahal and Mudulipada under Machhkund police limits of Koraput and Mudulipada police limits of Malkangiri district on September 20.

The drive was carried out getting reliable information on activities and movement of the Red Rebels in the tri-junction of Koraput, Malkangiri districts of Odisha and Alluri Sitaram Raju district of Andhra Pradesh following the recent surrender of militias and Maoist supporters from bordering areas of both the states before Odisha Police and BSF in presence of DIG, SWR.

On Wednesday, based on tip-off, a Maoist camp was busted and an explosives dump was recovered in a forest near Sindhiput village of Andrahal (Koraput) bordering Rangabayalu GP of Alluri Sitaram Raju district of AP.

The seized items include 17 metre cordex wire, 31 gelatin sticks, 11 electric detonators, one electric wire bundle, two tiffin bombs, one pressure cooker bomb, one testing pin and Rs 70,000 cash, police stated in a release.
