Maoist carrying bounty on head surrenders before Odisha police

In yet another success to Odisha police, a wanted Maoist leader carrying cash award on his head today surrendered before police here.

Waga Kawasi alias Raju, who worked as Area Committee Member (ACM) of the banned CPI (Maoist), surrendered before Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.

As per police sources, over eight murder cases were pending against Raju, who was an active member of Kalimela Dalam under Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC).

Raju’s surrender is seen as a huge jolt to the Red movement in this part of the state as the ultra was an active member and wanted in several cases. An amount of Rs 1 lakh was announced by police on his head.
