At least one Maoist was killed in an encounter between the District Voluntary Force ( DVF ) and the Left ultras near Kalyasingpur in Rayagada district today.

Police sources said, the encounter took place when a DVF unit combing the nearby forest zone came face to face with a group of Maoists who had set up a camp there. Some arms and Maoist literature have been seized from the spot, the police said, adding the combing operation in the area has been intensified following the encounter.
