Maoist killed, two SOG men hurt in exchange of fire in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least one woman Maoist has been killed and two Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans have been injured in an exchange of fire between the Red rebels and security forces in Odisha’s Kandhamal district this evening.

The exchange of fire took place in Daka forested area near Badakhama under Baliguda police station limits, police said.

The injured SOG jawans have been rushed to the nearest hospital, police added.

“Exchange of fire between Maoists and SOG jawans has been reported from Daka forest near Badakhama under Baliguda police station jurisdiction. While one woman Maoist has been killed in the exchange of fire, two SOG jawans have been injured. The injured jawans have been hospitalized,” informed Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.
