Nabarangpur: With less than two days left to the first phase of polls to simultaneous elections in Odisha, Maoist posters and leaflets surfaced today at several places in the Raighar locality of Nabarangpur district, opposing the upcoming polls to Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly in the State.
According to a source, the ultra posters and leaflets mainly opposed the ruling BJD and Opposition BJP. The outlawed CPI (Maoist) faction urged local voters to boycott BJD and BJP fielded candidates.
On being informed, Raighar police reached the locality and seized the posters and leaflets.
“We are keeping a strict vigil on the recent development,” Raighar IIC Raghunath Majhi said.
Worth mentioning that the presence of red rebels is being felt in neighbouring Chhattisgarh, these days. A joint team of Nabarangpur District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Chhattisgarh Police encountered an ultra leader two days ago during an exchange of fire at a place bordering Odisha.
A few more Maoist posters and leaflets were also found on Hatigaon road (around four kilometers away from Raighar) and Kundei main road of Nuagaon-Jodinga in the district.
