Maoist with bounty surrenders before Odisha police

Nuapada: A most wanted Maoist surrendered before the Odisha police here today to join the main stream of society.

The CPI Maoist cadre Parshuram Dharua gave in to Nuapada Superintendent of Police (SP). He was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.

Initially, Parshuram alias Mantu was working as a militia with Mainpur Nuapada division between 2014 and 2015. Earlier, he was active in several Maoist activities in the district, informed the Nuapada SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas.

Reports said that he surrendered before the police after expressing displeasure over the organisation’s activities in Nuapada, Kalahandi and Chhattisgarh.

The Andhra and Chhattisgarh Maoist cadres are exploiting the Odisha counterparts, Mantu said adding that he preferred to surrender before police to join the main stream.

He will be rehabilitated as per the rehabilitation policy, the Nuapada police stated.

The district police informed that total five Maoists carrying Rs 8 lakh reward were caught in 2018 out of which three were arrested and two had surrendered before the police.
