Maoists call for bandh tomorrow in parts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh

Maoists have called for a bandh in Nuapada, Malkangiri and Kalahandi districts of Odisha and neighbouring Chhattisgarh tomorrow protesting against ‘Operation Green Hunt’.

The bandh call has been given by the Mainpur-Nuapada Divisional Committee of the CPI (Maoist). The committee has called for a bandh to protest against police torture and excesses on innocents in the name of ‘Operation Green Hunt’, the committee’s chief has told through posters.  The committee has urged the public to support the bandh for an exploitation free society for tribals, who are victims of administrative negligence etc .

Besides, the Maoists have demanded for rights to tribals over forest lands.

In another related incident, the Maoists have allegedly called for Ragayada bandh tomorrow demanding that the district be declared drought hit.

Posters and banners calling for this bandh were found today in Kalyansinghpur. The propaganda materials also opposed the way of functioning of the police superintendent, district collector, BJP and RSS.
