Malkangiri, Feb 17:

Maoists fired at a Border Security Force (BSF) camp in Mathili area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district last night, hours before panchayat polls in the region.

According to reports, the ultras fired at the BSF camp located at Kartalpali under Mathili police limits in the district.

The BSF jawans retaliated by firing back following which the red rebels ran helter-skelter.

No casualties have been reported in the incident.

Combing operation has been intensified in the area after the firing incident.

Worth mentioning, the Maoists had earlier opposed the panchayat polls in the district through posters. They had warned people to abstain from the elections or face dire consequences.
