Maoists kidnap four villagers in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A group of Maoists kidnapped four persons, including a village guard, in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, informed South Western Range DIG S. Shyni today.

The abductees have been identified as Babula Naik, Raju Naik, Khetra Harijan and Bisikeshan Harijan, all residents of Lakhapadar village under Bijepur police limits in the district.

According to reports, over 10 armed Maoists arrived in the village this noon and abducted the four threatening them at gunpoint.

While the whereabouts of the kidnapped ones were unknown till last reports came in, security forces have intensified combing operation in the area.

It is suspected that the red rebels committed the act over suspicion on the four of being police informers.
