Maoists kill Odisha couple suspecting police informers

Phulbani: Maoists allegedly killed a couple at Gidapadar village in Salaguda panchayat under Gochhapada police limits in Kandhamal district suspecting them to be police informers.

The deceased couple has been identified as Dahira Kanhar (husband) and Batasi Kanhar (wife).

According to reports, a group of Maoists picked the couple from their house at around 9 pm on Friday and took them to a nearby forest. The villagers found their bodies in the forest in the morning.

The locals suspected that the Maoists brutally killed the couple suspecting them to be police informers.

On the other hand, the speculations are rife that the couple was engaged in cannabis cultivation. They might have been killed over the illegal trade of ganja.
