A group of armed Maoists shot dead a tribal youth in Odisha’s Malkangiri on Saturday night.

According to reports, 20-25 armed Maoists barged into Madakapadar village under Mathili police station limits late on Saturday night and called up Damu Sisa, son of former village sarpanch from his house. Later, they took him to a place on the outskirts of the village and severely thrashed him.
Later, they shot him dead in the wee hours on Sunday.
The villagers found the body of Damu on the outskirts of the village this morning with a letter in which the Maoist have said they killed the youth as he was a police informer. It was on his information that a Maoist was killed by the police in an encounter at Jadaputi recently, the letter stated.
Till reports last came in, the local police are yet to reach the spot while the body is still lying on the outskirts of the village.
