Maoists observe bandh in Odisha’s Rayagada, Kalahandi

Protesting the death of a woman Maoist in an encounter with the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel, the Bansadhara-Ghumshar-Nagabali division of the banned outfit observed bandh in Odisha’s Rayagada and Kalahandi districts today.

Security arrangements have been tightened and security personnel deployed at sensitive places in the two districts.

The Maoists had on Saturday released an audio tape in which the red rebels had called for the bandh over the death of female Maoist cadre Sangita hailing from Adipanga in Mohana area of Gajapati district.

The woman Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with SOG personnel at Bijepur forest of Kalahandi district on September 15.
