Maoists set fire to Hyderabad-bound bus from Odisha

Malkangiri: A group of Maoists allegedly set fire to a private bus enroute to Hyderabad city from Odisha near Kutur village under Chintoor police limits in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday night.

Hundreds of red rebels hiding in a forest near Kutur village allegedly blocked the road and torched the bus.

According to reports, the bus was carrying 40-50 passengers from Nabarangpur district of Odisha to Hyderabad. The incident occurred during bandh observed by the Maoists in Dandakaranya area.

Police sources said that all the passengers are unharmed as suspected Maoists vacated the bus before setting it on fire.

The vehicular traffic was disrupted on both sides of the route due to the incident.

On receiving information, Chintoor police officials reached the spot and initiated investigation into the incident.
