Maoists slit another villager’s throat in Odisha’s Kalahandi

In yet another barbaric act, Maoists have allegedly killed a person by slitting his throat in Salapanga village under Sadar block in Odisha’s Kalahandi district today.

The Reds reportedly killed the deceased suspecting him to be a police informer. He has been identified as Lalu Harijan.

This is the second incident in a day in the district when a villager has been allegedly killed by Maoists on suspicion of being a police informer.

Earlier in the day, Chemu Harijan, a gram rakhi was found murdered near a bridge at Chemuku village in the Katalanga reserve forest area. His body was found with his throat slit. Maoists had allegedly slit his throat for being a police informer, reports said.

Notably, Maoists had earlier kidnapped five persons of Katlanga village including Harijan angered over the killing of a female cadre Sangita in an encounter with policemen at Katlanga reserve forest on October 15. Holding Harijan captive, the Maoists had released rest of the villagers.

Harijan’s wife has alleged that the Maoists have killed her husband suspecting him to be a police informer. She further alleged that the Maoists have taken away Harijan’s Aadhaar card, ration card, voter card and bank passbook.
