Married woman attempts self immolation in Jajpur  

Jajpur: A married woman attempted to commit suicide by setting herself on fire in New Market Colony under Jajpur Road police limits in the district today. Currently, she is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in critical condition.

As per reports, the  woman identified as Pujarani Dash was staying at her parents’ house at New Market Colony. She set herself on fire after pouring kerosene on her in wee hours today. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Vyasanagar in critical condition and later shifted to SCB.

Doctors said her condition is critical as she has suffered 90 per cent burn injuries.

Though exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, mental stress suspected to have led her to take the extreme step.
