[Watch] Mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtles starts in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: The much-awaited annual mass nesting of Olive Ridley turtle begins at Devi river mouth in Puri. Adding to the excitement of animal lovers, Olive Ridley turtles were spotted at the river mouth.
The reptile animals turned up for day-nesting at the river mouth.

After laying eggs in sand, the mother turtles return to sea. To protect the eggs from stray dogs, volunteers and Forest personnel collect them and keep in fenced hatcheries.

The endangered Olive Ridley turtles also arrive at Rushikulya river mouth in Ganjam district and Gahiramatha in Kendrapara district for mass nesting every year.
