Bhubaneswar: A street fight ensued between the activists of BJP youth wing and Congress party student wing in Odisha capital here today over the speech of Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi in Parliament yesterday.
The incident took place at Master Canteen Square in the capital city here in the afternoon. Several people from both sides as well as a few commuters were injured in the clash. A few vehicles were damaged in the incident.
The clash occurred when the activists of BJP Yuva Morcha held a demonstration against Gandhi at Master Canteen Square.
The BJP activists allegedly hurled stones and cow dung at a large poster of Gandhi at Congress Bhawan, the Odisha headquarters of the party, near Master Canteen Square.
A clash ensued after the activists of Congress student wing offered a resistance. Both sides allegedly hurled stones at each other in the presence of police personnel.
The BJP activists, however, alleged that the activists of Congress student wing (NSUI) attacked them while they were holding demonstration peacefully at Master Canteen Square. Seven activists of BJP Yuva Morcha were injured in stone hurling by the NSUI activists and admitted to Capital Hospital, they claimed.
