Rebuked by mother, teenage girl ends life in Odisha

Sambalpur: Insisting a daughter on pursuing study for upcoming matriculation examination proved costly for parents as the teenage girl committed suicide in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.

The incident was reported from Dhanupali area on Sunday.

According to report, the Class 10 girl student was busy at other stuff instead of her study on Sunday morning. She took extreme step allegedly after her mother asked her to concentrate on studies to perform well in the upcoming matriculation examination.

Reportedly, she entered into bathroom. After she did not come out for a long hour, the family members broke open the door and found her hanging from a pipe inside the bathroom.

On receiving information, Dhanupali police reached the house and sent the body for autopsy.

Source said that earlier the minor girl had attempted to commit suicide after her parents did not allow her to attend annual function of her school last month.
