Cuttack, Dec 4:
Medical Council of India (MCI) has not cut seats in SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Odisha’s Cuttack and we hope it will not do so for the next academic session, an official said.
“We don’t think there will be cut in seats. We are already admitting 250 students. MCI may not give permission for intake of 250 students in MBBS in 2017-18 academic year if shortfall in infrastructure continues. I don’t think that will happen as we have complied with the requirements,” Prof (Dr) Sidhartha Das, SCBMCH Dean & Principal said.
During MCI team’s last visit to the premier government-run medical college cum hospital in September this year, the officials had pointed several infrastructural deficiencies.
“We have constructed new buildings as per the guidelines laid by MCI. The team would visit the medical college in February next,” Das added.
Notably, the Council had accepted state government`s proposal of increasing number of MBBS course seats from 150 to 250 in SCB Medical College from 2013-14 academic year.
