MCL felicitates 4 Odisha women hockey players with cash award

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11:

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) today felicitated four Odisha women hockey players with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh each for their splendid show in the Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup-2013 at Germany where the Indian team won a bronze medal.

The four players—Nomita Toppo, Nilima Minz, Anupa Barla— and Deepa Grace Ekka (in absentia), were felicitated at MCL headquarters in Sambalpur by the MCL CMD AN Sahay at Sambalpur.

Congratulating the players, Sahay said their achievements are a result of the hard work they have put in during their practice and hoped that they would bring more laurels to the country as well as to the state.

Sahay wished the players the very best for the upcoming Asian Games in September 2014 in South Korea for which they would leave for selection and trail camp to be held at Patiala on the August 13.

Expressing their gratitude, the players thanked MCL for encouraging and supporting the sports fraternity.

Prior to this, MCL had promoted wind surfer Manaswini Maharana and A Mahesh Rao by providing them with logistic supports. Besides, the company had also sponsored the training of eminent chess player and World U-10 champion Saina Salonika and her trip to UAE, and to sprinter Amiya Mallick for his training at Jamaica.
