MD of SR Overseas charged with cheating

Kailash Chandra Dethi (26) of Unit-4 area in the Capital along with four others  lodged a complaint with the Commissionerate Police on Monday alleging that one Sunil Kumar Rath, managing director of SR Overseas, a consultant agency, had cheated them after promising to get them jobs in Singapore. The job aspirants, according to the FIR, had paid Rath an amount of Rs 6 lakh as advance.

Kailash along with four others, Sridhar Pradhan, Goutam Rout, Krushna Sahu etc all residents of Satyanagar, first tried to lodge the complaint with the Airfield police today the police official here refused to accept the complaint on the ground that the Inspector in- Charge was not present.

Kailash told OST that Rath, of Beguniapada in Ganjam district who runs his consultancy agency at Unit-6 in Ganganagar here, took six lakh rupees from them between March and May 2011 after promising them jobs in a Shopping Mall Park, Way Paryde, in Singapore. But Rath neither kept his promise nor returned the money. When the five asked for refund of their money, Rath reportedly promised to return the money but changed his contact number and remained incommunicado.

The agency had charged each of them Rs 1 lakh for visa and other requirements and assured them of a monthly salary of more than Rs 65,000 per month after they join the shopping mall in Singapore.

Several other people have been victims of the company’s fraudulent designs, Kailash told OST.The complainants have demanded action against Rath and refund of the money deposited with him.
