Medical team from Odisha visits Puducherry to check Padma Bhushan Manoj Das’ health condition

Bhubaneswar: A medical team from Odisha today visited the nursing home at Sri Aurobinda Ashram in Puducherry to examine health condition of veteran litterateur Manoj Das, who has been undergoing treatment there since last three months.

The team headed by Prof Dr Biranchi Narayan Mohapatra, Professor of Medicine and Dean and Principal of Shri Jagannath  Medical College and Hospital in Puri, will submit a report to the state Government after checking health condition of the Padma Bhushan awardee.

Yesterday, Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Director Dr CBK Mohanty had shot off a letter to Dr Mohapatra directing him to proceed to Puducherry to visit the eminent writer. Das is undergoing treatment at the nursing home due to old-age related ailments. Earlier, he had suffered fracture in one of his hands.

The Union Ministry of Health has also formed a four-member team of doctors from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) at Puducherry for his treatment.
