Medicos in Odisha to be trained to manage COVID-19 situation

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to train medical students of all medical colleges for tackling the coronavirus outbreak situation, official sources said.

“Considering the dearth of doctors, it has been decided that the 7th, 8th and 9th semester MBBS students of all medical colleges will be trained who could be deployed in case need arises. In the first phase, the training of the government establishments would be taken up. The private medical colleges will also be required to train the doctors and students simultaneously,” an official order of the GA & PG Department of the government said.

It has also been decided that intensive training of the personnel in accordance with available protocols will be conducted. Anu Garg, Principal Secretary, Labour & ESI & W&CD assisted by Bhupendra S. Poonia, IAS, will be handling this crucial assignment, the order added.
