Members of inter-state car lifting gang arrested in Odisha

Odisha police today arrested two members of an inter-state car lifting gang from Bargarh and recovered two four-wheelers from their possession.

The two thieves hailing from Sonepur district have been identified as Ranjit Sahu from Sindol village under Ulunda police station limits and Vivek Behera from Harhar Nagar under Dunguripali police station limits.

The duo had hired a Toyota car from a car rental agency in Chhattisgarh bearing registration number CG 04 HS 3700 for Nuapada. The two looted the car from the driver at Sargibahal near Padampur and sped from the scene. A case was registered in this connection. After inquiry, the car was recovered from Ranjit Sahu’s garage,” Bargarh SP Asish Kumar Singh informed.

Further, another complaint was received on March 23 that a car that was booked on rental from an agency in Raigarh in Chhattisgarh was looted near Bhatli. The car bearing registration number CG 22 5080 has been traced to Titlagarh. The duo was also involved in the theft of this car, Singh added.

Several cases at different police stations in Kalahandi, Rayagada, Kandhamal and various police stations in Chhattisgarh have been registered against the two.
