Mentally challenged woman delivers baby on road in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, an unidentified mentally challenged woman has delivered a baby on a road near Bant Square in Bhadrak town.

According to reports, the mentally unstable woman gave birth to a baby boy on a road following labour pain late on Friday night. The locals rescued the patient and the newborn and rushed them to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bhadrak, through an ambulance for treatment.

Sources said that the woman used to roam around the town everyday. As she was mentally disabled, it is suspected that she got pregnant after being raped by someone. Being unattended by anyone and without any safety measure, she delivered the baby on the road managing all alone.

Till the last report came in, the mother-baby duo was undergoing treatment at the district hospital and they are stated to be in good conditions.
