‘Mentally unstable’ girl administers injections to patients in Odisha

Sambalpur: In a bizarre incident, a ‘mentally unstable’ girl administered injections to many patients at the District Headquarters Hospital here today.

The Sambalpur police arrested the accused identified as Lili Jal.

Taking stern action, the hospital authorities placed on-duty nurse Rajni Sahu under suspension and dismissed a security guard for negligence in delivering their duty.

According to reports, Lili, who is believed to be mentally unstable, had visited the hospital in the morning following a squabble with family members at home. In absence of medical staff, she started administering injections to five or six patients at the hospital.

The CCTV footage showed that the nurse, who was on duty, was sleeping during the incident.
