Mercury crosses 40 degree C at 16 places in Odisha; Boudh, Jharsuguda sizzle at 43.4

Bhubaneswar: Most of the places in Odisha witnessed hot and humid weather condition today.

As many as 16 places in the state recorded the maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius and above, said the IMD.

Two places–Boudh and Jharsuguda–recorded the day’s highest maximum temperature of 43.4 degree C in Odisha, added the weatherman.

Sambalpur recorded the maximum temperature of 43.3 degree C. The mercury touched 42 degree C at three places—Hirakud, Sundargarh and Rourkela.

The day temperature hovered around 41 degree C at six places—Angul, Sonepur, Bolangir, Titlagarh, Talcher and Nuapada. The maximum temperature was 40.6 degree C at Baripada, 40.2 at Bargarh, 40.2 at Nayagarh and 40 degree C at Malkangiri, said the IMD.

The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded the maximum temperature of 37.7 and Cuttack 38.5, added the IMD regional centre here.
