Mercury crosses 40 degree C at 22 places in Odisha; Jharsuguda sizzles at 43

Bhubaneswar: As many as 22 places in Odisha today recorded the maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or above, said the IMD.

Western Odisha town Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state with 43 degree C temperature, followed by Boudh (42.5), Sambalpur (42.4) and Talcher (42.2).

Three places—Sundargarh, Titligarh and Malkangiri—recorded the maximum temperature of 41.5 each, said the IMD regional centre here in its evening bulletin.

The maximum temperature was 41.2 degree C at Bolangir, 41.1 at Angul and 41 at Rourkela.

The other places where the maximum temperature touched 40 degree C or above are Hirakud, Bargarh, Bhawanipatna, Sonepur, Parlakhemundi, Deogarh, Cuttack (40), Bhubaneswar (40), Nayagarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Kendrapara.

At least five places in the state recorded the maximum temperature of 39 degree C or above. Similarly, the mercury crossed 38 degree C at six places in Odisha, added the IMD.
