Mercury crosses 43 Degree C at 15 places in Odisha; Talcher hottest at 45

Bhubaneswar: Intense heatwave condition continued to prevail across Odisha as the mercury crossed 43 Degree Celsius at 15 places in the state today.

Talcher town recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45 Degree C in the state today, said the IMD regional centre here.

The maximum temperature was 44.5 Degree C at Boudh and Titilagarh, 44.4 Degree C at Nuapada, 44.3 Degree C at Angul and Jharsuguda, 44 Degree C at Balangir, 43.8 Degree C at Baripada, 43.5 Degree C at Sambalpur, Bhawanipatna and Sonepur, 43.2 Degree C at Hirakud and 43 Degree C at Nayagarh, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

The mercury hovered in between 42 and 43 Degree C at eight places—Chandbali, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Rourkela, Bargarh, Kendrapara and Paralakhemundi—in the state today, said the IMD in its weather report.

The capital city recorded the maximum temperature of 41.3 Degree C while the Silver City of Cuttack recorded 41.5 Degree C, added the IMD.

The maximum temperature was 41.6 Degree C at Rayagada and 41.3 Degree C at Keonjhar and Phulbani.

According to the IMD, some places in the state including the capital city, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara received the Nor’wester rain in the afternoon.
