Mercury dips in Odisha, Belghar coldest at 3 degree C

Bhubaneswar: After few days gap, the mercury level once again dropped across Odisha with the lowest temperature recorded at Belghar followed by Phulbani and Sundergarh.

Belghar in Phulbani district was the coldest area with the temperature 3 degree Celsius on Wednesday night. While the minimum temperature in Phulbani was 3.5 degree, Sundergarh recorded 5.5 degree Celsius.

Besides Phulbani, Belghar and Sundergarh, eight more cities of the state recorded the minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius.

While 8.6 degree C was recorded in Angul, Balangir and HIrakud, Jharsuguda had 7.9 degree Celsius, Keonjhar 8.4 degree C, Sambalpur 8.9 degree C, Daringbadi 7 degree C and Bhawanipatna 8.5 degree C on Wednesday night.

The cold wave conditions will continue till January 20, Bhubaneswar MeT predicted.

However, the temperature may fall below 5 degree in one or two places in the next two days.

The IMD predicted dense fog in one or two places in Odisha. There will be no change in weather in interior and coastal parts of the state.

On the other hand, the temperature has increased in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in the past 24 hours. While Cuttack had 12.8 degree C and Bhubaneswar recorded 13.4 degree C last night.
