Mercury drops below 10°C at 10 places in Odisha, Phulbani shivers at 4°C

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions continue to intensify in Odisha as mercury plummeted below 10 degree Celsius at ten places in the state, the Regional Meteorological Centre said today.

Phulbani was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of 4 degree Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda (5.8), Daringbadi (6), Angul (6.6), Koraput (7), Bhawanipatna (7.8), Balangir (8.8), Boudh (9), Keonjhar (9.3), and Sonepur (9.4).

While Cuttack recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degree Celsius, the figure for capital city Bhubaneswar was 12.3 degree Celsius.

On the other hand, frost was witnessed in Phulbani for the first time this winter.

Isolated cold wave to severe cold wave condition very likely prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Bargarh today, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecasted and issued Orange Warning for the districts.

Isolated cold wave conditions very likely to prevail over the districts of Koraput, Kandhamal, Balasore, Keonjhar, Boudh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Dhenkanal and Deogarh, it added and issued Yellow Warning for the districts.

People of the areas have been advised to stay indoors during night and make arrangements to keep livestock in shed/indoor area.
