Bhubaneswar: Maximum temperature at most of the places in Odisha came down below 40 degree Celsius due to western disturbance and rainfall activities across the state, said the IMD in its evening bulletin today.
The highest maximum temperature of 40 degree C in the state was recorded at Nuapada. Boudh was the second hottest place in Odisha with 39.5 degree C temperature while the maximum temperature was 39.1 at Sonepur, said the IMD.
Baripada town of Odisha, which was witnessing maximum temperature in the range of 42-44 degree C in last few days, recorded the day temperature of 37.5 degree C today. The mercury at Baripada was at least 1 degree C below the normal, said the IMD.
The mercury also came down to 38.8 degree C (2.4 degree C below normal) at Jharsuguda in western Odisha. Jharsuguda was recording maximum temperature in the range of 40 to 44 degree C in last few days, said the IMD.
The maximum temperature also fell in capital city of Bhubaneswar (37.8) and Silver City of Cuttack (36.0). The mercury was 0.5 degree C below the normal in Bhubaneswar and 1.9 degree C below the normal in Cuttack, added the IMD.
