Mercury soars above 35 Degrees Celsius at 17 places of Odisha; Sonepur hottest with 36.3

Bhubaneswar: Mercury is on the rise at many places in Odisha and at least seventeen places of the State witnessed day temperatures above 35 Degrees Celsius today.

Sonepur recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 36.3 Degrees Celsius. It was followed by Bhubaneswar (36.2), Talcher (36.2), Titilagarh (36.0), Boudh (36.0), Jharsuguda (35.7), Bhadrak (35.6), Dhenkanal (35.6), Bhawanipatna (35.5), Nayagarh (35.5), Bolangir (35.5), Cuttack (35.4), Malkangiri (35.4), Angul (35.3), Balasore (35.2), Chandbali (35.2) and Jajpur (35.2).

However, Paralakhemundi alone registered day temperature of 35 Degrees Celsius.

“Minimum temperatures observed appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha,” a special bulletin of the IMD regional centre here mentioned.

Notably, no large change is likely in minimum (night) temperature at many places over the districts of Odisha during next four to five days.
