Bhubaneswar: Mercury is on the rise at many places in Odisha and IMD has warned of ‘heat wave’. Twenty-seven places of the State witnessed day temperatures above 40 Degrees Celsius today.
Sonepur recorded the highest day temperature at 45.7 Degrees Celsius, followed by Boudh (45.6), Sambalpur (45.4), Hirakud (45.1), Bolangir (45.0), Jharsuguda (44.8), Angul (44.7), Sundargarh (44.5), Nayagarh (44.5), Bargarh (44.4), Bhubaneswar (44.3), Talcher (44.0), Dhenkanal (43.6), Titilagarh (43.5), Khordha (43.5), Rourkela (43.4), Nuapada (43.4), Deogarh (42.5), Baripada (42.4), Jagatsinghpur (42.4), Cuttack (42.1), Phulbani (42.0), Bhawanipatna (41.8), Keonjhar (41.4), Bhadrak (40.5), Berhampur (40.5) and Kendrapara (40.2).
However, Jajpur and Chhatrapur recorded a maximum temperature of 40 Degrees Celsius.

No major change in Maximum (day) temperature during the next 3 days and a gradual fall in subsequent 2 days at many places over the districts of Odisha. Maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4 to 7oC at a few places over the districts of Odisha during next 3 days.
“Consequently hot and discomfort weather is likely during next 3 to 4 days and people are advised to take precautionary measures (avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration) while going outside during day time between 1100 IST to 1500 IST,” a special bulletin of IMD regional centre said.
Orange Warning (Be Prepared)
Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave condition is very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda and Bolangir with validity from 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 20.06.2023.
Yellow Warning (Be Updated)
Heat Wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nuapada during the same period.
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
