Bhubaneswar, Mar 19:
While Bhubaneswar was the hottest city in the country on Tuesday at 39 degree Celsius, normal life was thrown out of gear in most parts of Odisha due a sudden rise in mercury levels.
According to the Met office sources, the temperature was over 38 degree Celsius in Angul (38.7), Titlagarh (38.5), Phulbani (38.4) and Bolangir (38) while it remained at 37 degree in Chandbali, Sambalpur, Hirakud and Malkangiri.
According to Dr Surendranath Pasupalak, agro-meteorologist at the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT), the capital city is likely to touch 40 degree Celsius today.
“The heat wave in Odisha would continue for the next 48 hours after which there would be a marginal fall in temperature on March 21”, he added.
