Mercury soars to 38 degree Celsius at 8 places in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as eight places in Odisha recorded maximum temperatures of 38 degree Celsius or above today, said the IMD.

Similarly, as many as 13 other places in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 37 degree Celsius or above on the day, said the IMD regional centre here in its evening bulletin.

The highest maximum temperature of 38.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Talcher and Sambalpur. The maximum temperature was 38.5 degree Celsius at Bhubaneswar, 38 degree C at Baripada, 38.4 degree C at Jharsuguda, 38.4 degree C at Sonepur, 38 degree C at Boudh and 38 degree C at Khurda, said the IMD.

According to the IMD, Balasore, Chandbali, Cuttack, Angul, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Bolangir, Titlagarh, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal and Jagatsinghpur recorded maximum temperature of 37 degree Celsius or above on the day, added the IMD.

“The maximum temperature is likely to remain above normal by 2-3 degree Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next four/five days,” said the IMD regional centre today.

As per the IMD forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Muyurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal for two days starting March 7. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts, said the IMD.
