Mercury touches 40 degree mark in Odisha capital for first time this year

Odisha capital reeled under sizzling heatwave today as mercury touched 40 degree Celsius mark in the city by 1.30 pm making it difficult for the denizens to stay outside.

Bhubaneswar registered a highest temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more for the first time this year, reports said.

On the other hand, Malkangiri recorded the highest temperature of the day by 1.30 pm with 42.4 degree Celsius.

There is a possibility of low pressure over Bay of Bengal on April 14 or 15, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Sarat Chandra Sahu said.
