Heavy rains to lash Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Regional Meteorological Centre today predicted heavy rains in most parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

The heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha, the Bhubaneswar MeT warned.

Moderate rain/thunder-shower is likely to occur at most of the places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, north interior Odisha and south coastal Odisha, predicted Regional Meteorological Centre here today.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, few places over the districts of south interior Odisha may witness light to moderate rain/thunder-shower today. It warned

The sky in Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood may remain cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thunder-shower with maximum and minimum temperature around 32 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively today.

As the strong and gusty surface wind is predicted with reaching 35 to 45 kmph along and off Odisha coast, the fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of Odisha, most parts of West Bengal and some parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. The conditions appeared to be favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of Odisha.

The cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood still persists and now seen between 5.8 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level.

With the thunderstorm occurred in many places of Odisha in past few days, the temperature dropped bringing relief from heat and humidity during the monsoon. The highest maximum temperature of 38.4 degree C was recorded at Titilagarh and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.4 degree C was recorded at Cuttack in the plains of Odisha today.
